WHEN David Cardie stumbled upon this rare albino otter he thought he was imagining things.
Mr Cardie, 68, was returning from an early morning stroll when he spotted the otter on a nearby grass verge.
At first he thought it was a cat, but when he got up close he recognised it as an otter and ran home to get his camera.
They are so rare, it is only the second time that an albino otter has ever been photographed in the wild in the UK.
Grace Yoxon, director of the International Otter Survival Fund, based in Skye, said: ‘To the best of expert knowledge this is only the second albino otter actually photographed in the wild in Britain ever. [download copy]
