THIS is the girl who was saved from cancer by having a HAIRCUT. It was only when mum Sally Wilsoncroft parted the back of her daughter Victoria’s hair to carry out a trim, that she discovered a lump on her neck. Tests which were eventually carried out on the lump showed that it was cancerous and Victoria underwent gruelling chemotherapy treatment.

I lumbered down the street, panting with every breath. And then the cruel taunts rang out around my ears. ‘Pumba, Pumba,’ rang out the voice from the other side of the pavement. I cringed in embarrassment. I was being called the name from the pig in the Disney film the Lion King. Like me the pig was overweight, and being called it really hurt. But I was always getting called names for being so fat. I was only 19 and yet I weighed over 22 stone. I had struggled with my weight ever since I was in my teens. I just piled more and more weight on. And the kids at school would jeer at me too and call me hurtful names. That was embarrassing enough, but to have complete strangers call me Pumba in the street was awful.

I’d just met my boyfriend Dan Willetts and was enjoying spending time with him. But then six months after we met I decided to go and see the doctor as I had earache.
