WHEN chemotherapy and a new pioneering drug treatment failed to cure Reece Puddington from cancer, doctors didn’t know where to turn next. They had tried nearly three months of intensive chemotherapy and two courses of a pioneering drug from the USA to cure him from neuroblastoma, a rare aggressive childhood cancer. But they hadn’t counted on good old fashioned laughter as the best medicine possible for six year old Reece. After all the previous treatments had failed Reece started to watch the popular comedy show Little Britain with his mother Kay. And after several weeks of watching the show and ‘crying with laughter’, doctors tried one last course of drug treatment - and amazingly it worked. His cancer is now in remission

WHEN Stephen Rutter got his 31 stone bulk wedged in a turnstile at a football ground, he knew he had to take drastic action. It took FIVE men a total of TEN minutes to free Mr Rutter - three on one side to push him, and two on the other to pull him. Mr Rutter, 49, was attending an away game at Fulham football ground, watching his home team Arsenal play, when the embarassing incident happened in December 2006. His son Adam, 19, was also so embarrassed and worried about his father’s vast bulk, that he pleaded with him to lose weight. It was just the incentive that Mr Rutter needed, and six months later he started to diet. He lost five stone, then joined Slimming World and lost another 12 stone - making a staggering weight loss of 17 stone.
