WHEN Lesley Treadwellís daughter Olivia was born with cerebral palsy, doctors told her that she would never be able to walk. Olivia, now 12, even went to America for operations on her legs to try and improve the condition - but she spent her whole life in a wheelchair. But at the age of nine, something remarkable happened after Mrs Treadwell brought Olivia and her twin sister Elizabeth a golden retriever puppy called Leo. Three months later, Olivia stood up and managed to take her first ever steps holding onto Leoís collar for support - something that her parents never thought they would see.

WHEN Julia Smith realised her massive bulk could kill her, she decided to take drastic action. Miss Smith, 27, has now lost a staggering 12 stone - and amazingly she weighs less than she did as an 11-year-old school girl. At the age of 11, Miss Smith weighed 11 stone and she carried on putting on weight throughout her teenage years. But since losing the massive amount of weight she now weighs 9 stone 2 - almost two stone lighter than she was at age 11. Miss Smith said: ĎI may have been a fat child - who grew into an even fatter woman. But Iím living proof that you can change.

AFTER more than fifteen operations on her legs and hand to help her walk again - brave meningitis girl Courtney Naraghi can finally step out with a smile. Courtney, now 11, lost both her legs and fingers on her left hand due to the killer disease. Surgeons have had to break bones in both her remaining leg bones and reset them using metal pins and bolts in a series of painful operations - in order for Courtney to be able to finally step out using her new pair of prosthetic legs.

WHEN Stephen Rutter got his 31 stone bulk wedged in a turnstile at a football ground, he knew he had to take drastic action. It took FIVE men a total of TEN minutes to free Mr Rutter - three on one side to push him, and two on the other to pull him. Mr Rutter, 49, was attending an away game at Fulham football ground, watching his home team Arsenal play, when the embarassing incident happened in December 2006. His son Adam, 19, was also so embarrassed and worried about his fatherís vast bulk, that he pleaded with him to lose weight. It was just the incentive that Mr Rutter needed, and six months later he started to diet. He lost five stone, then joined Slimming World and lost another 12 stone - making a staggering weight loss of 17 stone.

WHEN Angela Martinelli made a decision to have a breast reduction operation - she had no idea it would end up saving her life. Ever since she was a teenager Mrs Martinelli had been unhappy with her massive 34J chest and had suffered years of painful backache. Eventually she had the operation and when they removed her excess breast tissue, surgeons made the most unbelievable discovery. Mrs Martinelli had breast cancer deep inside the tissue - and the killer disease hadnít been picked up on a routine mammogram just weeks before. WHEN Tracey Burt was pregnant with her sixth baby she knew he was going to be big. She had already given birth to five babies - who had all increased in weight and her last one had tipped the scales at nearly 10Ibs. THIS is the girl whose skin has completely changed from black to white in a case that has amazed experts. When Darcel de Vlugt was born to her parents, who are both from Trinidad, her skin was completely black. At the age of five, two white spots appeared on her forearm and forehead, and doctors diagnosed her with the skin condition vitiligo - the same condition which Michael Jackson is said to have suffered from.

THIS is the little baby who has brought hope back into her parentsí Life. Anne and Mark Hollern were left devastated when both their young children were diagnosed with Battenís disease, a cruel genetic disorder which means that children usually die before the age of 12. They tragically lost their eldest son Robbie at the age of six, and their daughter Rosie, four, is quickly deteriorating due to the condition. The couple decided that they would try for one last child, in the vain hope that they woud beat the one in four odds of having another child with Battenís Disease. And their prayers have been answered - when tiny Roxie was born last month, and doctors told them she hadnít inherited the disorder.

WHEN Victoria Martindale-Wood was born weighing just 14 ounces, doctors thought she couldn't possibly survive. Her mother Tracy gave birth to her at just 24 weeks - and tiny Victoria measured just nine inches. Weighing less than a pound, Victoria was believed to be the second smallest baby ever to be born in the UK. Her survival was seen as not only miraculous because of her tiny size - but she truly beat all the odds after surviving a car crash whilst she was still in her motherís womb. Now after celebrating her fourth birthday, Victoria is about to start school next month - even though her mother struggled to find a school uniform small enough for her.
