THIS is the amazing dog who has astounded experts with his survival after being born with two hearts. Golden retriever Alfie wasnít expected to survive after being born with an extra heart chamber that was attached to his normal heart. His previous owners put an advert on the internet after his rare condition was diagnosed and he was taken in by veterinary nurse Emma Foxhall. She raised the £3000 needed for him to have pioneering lifesaving treatment at Liverpool University Small Animal Hospital - an operation which vets had never carried out before. They managed to replumb his extra heart chamber into his existing heart - and now it has saved his life.

WHEN Stephanie Munton gave birth to each of her three previous children, she knew that the next time she fell pregnant it would be a big baby too. Two of her previous children had weighed over ten pounds (4.5 kg) , and her third child had weighed in at 11Ib9. But even Mrs Munton was shocked when doctors held up her fourth child Charlie, who was born in January. He tipped the scales at a whopping 13Ib4 - after she had given birth to him naturally, with only a touch of gas and air. Her pregnancy bump had measured a staggering 60 inches across a few days before she gave birth. Mrs Munton, 41, a teacher, said: ĎIíve given birth to all my children naturally, although with Charlie he was definitely the hardest to push out. ĎI only had gas and air for pain relief, and I couldnít believe it when they held him up afterwards as he looked as big as a six month old baby.

But within minutes, Iris had started to make her appearance and frantic Simon hit 70mph as he dashed to the hospital to try and make it in time. But it was up to Miss Hurstís mother Patricia to act as an emergency midwife in the backseat, as Iris decided she couldnít wait for her dad to arrive at the hospital. As the needle hit 70mph, Mrs Hurst delivered her granddaughter, who weighed a healthy 6Ib5 on the back seat of the family estate car.

LEANNE Salt has just become the fattest woman in the world to give birth to triplets. Weighing more than 40 stone, Leanne has stunned doctors with her survival - and the healthy delivery of her triplet babies. Last week - on the lucky date of 8.8.08 - Leanne, 23, gave birth to babies Deanna at 4Ib4, Daisy at 4Ib1 and Finlee at 5Ib10. Because of her massive bulk, doctors couldnít monitor the babies progress throughout the pregnancy, and could only just tell they were alive. They had thought she was carrying all girls, when she was in fact pregnant with two girls and a boy.
