When Leo turned to me and whispered the words ‘ I do’ it was the sweetest sound I had ever heard. It was even more special than when he had very first uttered those same words - on our first wedding day more than 20 years ago. We were getting married for the second time, after divorcing only a few years previously. I’d been diagnosed with breast cancer and Leo hadn’t been handle it, so we drifted apart. But now he was dying in hospital, and he wanted to make me his wife one more time, before it was too late. And it was just in time. 36 hours after we had exchanged our wedding vows Leo slipped away. I’d only been his wife for a day and a half - but it was the best few hours of my life. It made all the years of heartache worthwhile. ( slevin )

Kieran lay on the sofa with his eyes glued to the screen. Peter Pan was flying around and Kieran was absolutely fascinated. He’d always had a thing for Peter Pan. It was his favourite tv character. Night after night he’d be watching his hero, and he even begged me for a Peter Pan costume so he could dress up as him too. He was lying on the sofa one night watching his usual Peter Pan, when he complained of pains in his legs. It was just before bedtime and he was still complaining that they were hurting as he was lying in bed that night...................Two days later, he closed his eyes for the last time, and didn’t wake up. He was gone forever. One day I will tell Stephanie about her brave big brother, and how he hung on especially to meet her. And for her too, he will always be our own little Peter Pan , the little boy who never grew up. ( anderson )

WHEN doctors told Gemma Cox to abort her unborn baby as she was suffering from a lifethreatening heart condition, she was determined to risk her own life in order to give birth. Miss Cox had the full support of her sister Katherine Jefferys - as Mrs Jeffreys had just fought exactly the same battle and had survived. Doctors had told Mrs Jeffreys twice to abort her unborn children, who are now two and four months old, as she also had the same lifethreatening heart condition as her sister. But both sisters were determined to be a mother at all costs - and despite Miss Cox even undergoing lifesaving heart surgery when she was 24 weeks pregnant - their three children have been born safe and well.

WHEN doctors told Mark Chenoweth he would never walk again, he resigned himself to spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Mark, 45, had been born with spina bifida, and by the age of 34 he was unable to walk because of nerve damage to his spine. Crop circles and evidence of mysterious alien abductions may seem like a modern day phenomenom. But cave paintings found in what could be the oldest ‘art gallery’ in the world have shown that even our ancestors upto 20,000 years ago believed in life from another planet. I lit my daughter Josie’s favourite aromotherapy candle, and bustled around the living room clearing up. We’d just had a cosy night in together, with Josie’s boyfriend Lawrence, and my other son Michael, 21. It was December 2004, and we’d just had a quiet night, watching television, but it was 9.30am and Josie and Lawrence were having a lie in. Josie loved aromotherapy. Every morning I would light one of her candles, and the aroma would drift around the living room. She would light aromotherapy candles around her bath when she was having a soak in the bath and when she was in her bedroom. I needed to get some bread and milk, so I decided to nip down to our corner shop. I went out the front door quietly so not to wake everyone up and went outside. Ten minutes later, I turned the corner and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. There was smoke pouring out of our building, and there were fire engines outside. ‘You can’t go inside,’ said one of the fireman. ( phillips )
