I just stood rooted to the spot as my son Ryan screamed at me. ‘I’m getting bullied because of you - because you are so fat.’ The words stung me. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. That my son was getting bullied at school because of what I looked like. Surely it was enough that I had been bullied at school for my weight - that I’d endured years of taunting and hateful words because of my weight. If that wasn’t enough, my son was now getting it too, all those years later. It was just like I was being bullied again - but this time it was worse. Ryan shouldn’t be having to go through all that. ( martin ) So no sooner as he had confessed to me about the name calling that he’d been suffering, then I made a decision. I would lose the weight for Ryan.

AS more than forty dangerous reef sharks come swooping in for the hunks of bloody fish no one would want to be in their midst. With their ability to tear a human apart limb by limb, 60 feet down on the ocean floor with the hungry pack wouldn’t seem a good idea. But 39-year-old Andrea Lee has given up her job in Oxford to join a unique shark feeding programme in the Bahamas. Each day, Miss Lee, puts on her diving gear and a protective chain mail suit and dives down, together with a metal box of fish chunks, to feed the hungry pack and capture them on camera.

When Leo turned to me and whispered the words ‘ I do’ it was the sweetest sound I had ever heard. It was even more special than when he had very first uttered those same words - on our first wedding day more than 20 years ago. We were getting married for the second time, after divorcing only a few years previously. I’d been diagnosed with breast cancer and Leo hadn’t been handle it, so we drifted apart. But now he was dying in hospital, and he wanted to make me his wife one more time, before it was too late. And it was just in time. 36 hours after we had exchanged our wedding vows Leo slipped away. I’d only been his wife for a day and a half - but it was the best few hours of my life. It made all the years of heartache worthwhile. ( slevin )

Kieran lay on the sofa with his eyes glued to the screen. Peter Pan was flying around and Kieran was absolutely fascinated. He’d always had a thing for Peter Pan. It was his favourite tv character. Night after night he’d be watching his hero, and he even begged me for a Peter Pan costume so he could dress up as him too. He was lying on the sofa one night watching his usual Peter Pan, when he complained of pains in his legs. It was just before bedtime and he was still complaining that they were hurting as he was lying in bed that night...................Two days later, he closed his eyes for the last time, and didn’t wake up. He was gone forever. One day I will tell Stephanie about her brave big brother, and how he hung on especially to meet her. And for her too, he will always be our own little Peter Pan , the little boy who never grew up. ( anderson )
