THESE are the three sisters who are set to make surrogacy history once more, by all becoming mums to one baby. When Alex Patrick couldn’t give birth to her own child after cancer had left her infertile, her devoted sisters Helen Ritchie and and Charlotte Pestell were quick to offer a helping hand. With eggs donated by twin sister Charlotte, and baby Charlie carried by Helen, her two sisters gave her the gift of the child she had longed for, and her son Charlie, now three, was born. Now they are set to make history once more - as Mrs Ritchie is pregnant for the second time using the same process, Charlie a little brother or sister.

‘Its the fat lady at the door,’ shouted the child to his mum. And thats what I was known as to everyone on my door to door round. I was a saleswoman, selling insurance services by banging on people’s front doors. I worked hard at my job and I was good at it. But I was still the ‘fat lady’ at the front door. ( clarke )

Most women expect to put on a few stone when pregnant and they hide their growing stomachs under maternity clothes. But not Monica Martinsen, who managed to lose a staggering eight stone during her pregnancy. She was losing so much weight each month in a desperate desire to shed her bulk, that she didn’t even realise she was pregnant until she only a few weeks away from giving birth. Mrs Martinsen, 33, who runs her own IT company with husband Jonas, 33, was a massive 22 stone when she had a gastric bypass operation in a bid to lose weight. Over the next eight months she shed a staggering eight stone - and it was only when she had lost the weight that she discovered she had an unexpected baby bump underneath. Eight weeks later she gave birth to her son Gustav, now four months old.

OLA Morgan has to bravely ride her bike with no arms - as callous thieves stole her special electronic arm. Ola, ten, was fitted with the prosthetic arm seven years ago after being born without a left arm as an aftermath of Chenobyl. But in December she went to school and the arm was taken out of her schoolbag - much to the horror of her mother Julie, 38. Now brave Ola is having to fundraise herself, by doing sponsored bike rides, in order to raise the funds needed to buy her a new arm. Mrs Morgan, a full time carer, who has also just been diagnosed with cancer, said: ‘Ola went to school that morning with her arm, and later, it was taken out of her schoolbag. ‘I’m sure it was just some children having a joke. But we’ve never found the arm since, and it really is a lifeline for her.

WHEN Stumpy the duck was born with four legs his owner was worried he would never be able to find a girlfriend. And when one of his legs was caught in chicken wire earlier this year and he was left with just three legs, it seemed like his chances were even less. But now Stumpy has found love, with a duck called Alice - and his three legs even give him extra speed in chasing after her.

LITTLE  Annabel Woods is the amazing ‘frozen sperm baby’ who was conceived after her father’s sperm had been frozen for an amazing SEVENTEEN years in a test tube. When Andrew Woods, now 40, was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 23, doctors told him that aggressive chemotherapy would leave him infertile. So he and his wife Sally, 40, a hospice fundraiser, decided that their only chance of having a family in the future was to have his sperm frozen whilst he battled through cancer.

WHEN these quadruplets celebrated their first birthday, it was a day that their parents feared they would never see. After Luke, the smallest of the quads became gravely ill, his parents Tracey Fry and her fiance Martyn Giibbs didn’t think they would be bringing their four little miracle home. But tiny Luke hung on, and after a long six month battle, he was finally allowed home to join his two brothers and sisters. And the quads were reunited in time to celebrate their first birthday eight weeks ago.

My daughter Samantha was wheeled down to the operating theatre, and I was just praying that she would pull through the operation. It was an operation to mend a valve in her heart - but I had more reason than most mums for being terrified of my daughter being taken down for such an operation. I had already lost my husband Gary at the age of 48 - when he was on the operating table to mend a faulty valve - just like Samantha. I’d already lost him - so I was terrified that I was going to lose my daughter too. ( wooding )

‘Can you get your son to take off his mask,’ demanded the woman standing infront of me. ‘He is scaring my son,.’ But Hunter wasn’t wearing any mask. He knows only too well the taunts that the Elephant Man had to suffer. He has been born with tumours that deform his neck and head - just like the 19th century man whose life was featured in the 1980 film ‘The Elephant Man’ At just five years old, Hunter has become a mini version of Joseph Merrick, who eventually died at the age of 25 due to suffocation.
