WHEN Alison Hill was pregnant with her third child, she guessed before the birth what weight the baby would be. Mrs Hill and her husband Simon, 30, had been married on the 8.8.08 - and their two older children had been born weighing 8Ib8. When her third baby Teagan was born in March - she guessed what the weight would be even before the midwives put her on the scale. And little Teagan didn’t fail to go with family tradition - in an unbelievable coincidence, she also weighed in at 8Ib8 - exactly the same as her brother and sister. Mrs Hill, 25, who lives in Manchester, said: ‘I can’t believe that my three children have all been born weighing exactly the same weight. The chances of it happening must be unbelievable. ‘Eight really is our lucky number - as Simon and I married on the 8.8.08 and then all our children have been born weighing 8Ib8.

THIS is the tragic family picture that they will have to remember and cherish for the rest of their lives. Sisters Ashlea, Leanne and Carys Looms all have a rare genetic disease which means they are losing their sight. It means Ashlea, 25, will no longer be able to watch her four children grow up, Leanne 24, won’t be able to see her two children, and if Carys, 22, has a baby she may never see it, as the three sisters are all going blind. As each day passes their sight deteriorates further. Ashlea and Carys already can no longer drive and they struggle to work. But they are determined to watch their six children grow up for as long as they possibly can. Ashlea, who has daughters Jessica, eight, Brooke, five, Grace-May, two, and newborn Esme, said: ‘At the moment there is no cure for our condition. We know that one day all three of us will be blind and we make the most of each day with our children and family whilst we can.

THESE tiny triplet hedgehogs are so small that they all fit into a TEACUP. The orphaned trio were found behind an old dishwasher in a garage, and only survived after being rushed into an animal rescue centre for help. Now thanks to hours of care - where they spend most of their time in an incubator to keep warm - the trio have survived long enough to open their eyes. The hedgehogs were only a few days old when they were found behind the old dishwasher machine in a garage belonging to a couple in Western Super Mare. When they went to move the machine they found the tiny trio curled up in a pile of dead leaves behind it.

FOR most mothers, being pregnant and giving birth is one of the most memorable times in their lives. But for mother Emma Mynors, she simply doesn’t have those memories. She fell into a coma just before she gave birth - and gave birth to her daughter Amy whilst she was still in the coma. Afterwards she couldn’t remember even being pregnant - and her memory of giving birth to her daughter has never returned. Mrs Mynors, who lives in Clacton on Sea, Essex, with husband Dean, 27, said: ‘When I woke from my coma, the nurses kept showing me photographs of this baby girl, and I had no idea who she was.

WHEN Laura Horne’s pregnant stomach grew so big, doctors carried out a scan to see why it was so large. And it was lucky they did as they discovered her unborn baby had an enormous ovarian cyst that was growing so rapidly it was crushing the baby’s vital organs. Mrs Horne had to undergo an emergency caesarian to deliver her baby daughter - so that the tiny fighter could have an operation to save her life.

THESE are the ‘designer’ twins - genetically engineered by doctors so their mother could give birth without miscarrying. Doctors discovered that both Julia Eynon and her husband Stuart had abnormal chromosomes which were being passed to their unborn babies, causing them to be miscarried.

WHEN Jane Tonks met her son’s girlfriend there was something strangely familiar about her. But it was only when her son Richard, 32, told her that his girlfriend Charlotte Kendrick had been born the following day from him at the same hospital that the penny dropped. Mrs Tonks worked out that Charlotte was actually the baby daughter of the woman who had lain in the next hospital bed to her - after they give birth just hours apart from each other.

‘I’m your wife,’ I insisted to my husband Jez as he lay in his hospital bed. But his face was blank. ‘Do you know who I am,’ I asked him desperately. This was like an awful dream. Jez had had an operation to remove a brain tumour three weeks before, but had suffered a lifethreatening infection afterwards. He nearly hadn’t survived, but he’d defied all the doctors to hang on.

WHEN little Alex Logan lost his voice after gruelling chemotherapy, his devastated parents never thought they would ever hear him speak again. The brave five year old had been left unable to speak after his battle for survival - until he got his voice back thanks to an ICE POP. To the amazement of the doctors, who believed he had suffered brain damage, his voice came back after he swallowed a freezing cold ice pop and his first words were ‘I love you mummy,’ Mrs Logan, 38, said: ‘I just burst into tears when I heard his voice. We never thought we were going to hear him speak again. ‘It’s all thanks to an ice-pop. His throat had been so painful after the treatment he’d had that he’d been too frightened to speak because it hurst so much. ‘When he swallowed the ice pop it cooled and numbed his throat, so it gave him the confidence to speak again. ‘I can’t believe that an ice pop gave my son his voice back. It really is a miracle.’
